Ballon d’Or, Once again in Lionel Messi Hand

Lionel Messi crowned as the World Best Player of the Year again through the 2019 Ballon d’Or trophy in a ceremony at the Theater du Chatelet, Paris.

The Ballon d’Or 2019 poll was compiled from the votes of 180 international journalists around the world. The Barcelona Megastar and 32-year-old Argentine striker won the most votes based on the results of the vote.

  • Cristiano Ronaldo 476 points
  • Sadio Mane 347 points
  • Mohamed Salah 178 points

Lionel Messi outperformed the two closest candidates, Virgil van Dijk and Cristiano Ronaldo, who were ranked 2-3 respectively.

Lionel Messi has been crowned the winner of the 2019 Ballon d’Or. Messi wins sixth Ballon d’Or, one more than Cristiano Ronaldo.

Messi won the prestigious 2019 individual trophy after leading Barcelona winning the Spanish League and the 2018-2019 Spanish Super Cup. Lionel Messi also completed the competition last season as the top scorer of the Spanish League and Champions League and won the European Golden Boot at the end of the season.

Surpassing Ronaldo’s record

Messi now has six Ballon d’Or trophies, surpassing Ronaldo’s record who has won five times the awards. In the last 11 years, Messi and Ronaldo are competing in the race for the Ballon d’Or trophy.
